The Sleepover Club: Self Love or Self Obsessed?

Narcissism has been an insult hurled at women since the dawn of time; but never has the idea of self-obsession been as prevalent as it is in the age of social media. In this week's Sleepover Club, Olivia and Ione are discussing why we still love to make marginalised people feel small for being self confident; from selfies to self love, bodies as commodity, and the line between art and self image.
Why do we accept — and encourage— the admiration of self in those who are conventionally beautiful, but still put down those who use these tools to emancipate themselves from restrictive beauty standards? We pick apart all this and much more.

This week we have some VERY special recommendations from Elizabeth Renstrom. The photographer and senior photo editor at The New Yorker will be sharing with us three perfume reviews from her incredible project, Basenote Bitch.

The Polyester Podcast is brought to you by Polyester's founding editor in chief Ione Gamble (@ionegamble), and co-hosted and produced by Olivia Graham. Polyester is a self published culture zine exploring intersectional URL feminism in the IRL world. Have faith in your own bad taste!
