Tavi Gevinson on the URL World, and Esme Blegvad on the Titanic

This episode, we're really excited to be joined by two amazing guests who have both featured in or contributed to the zine; writer, actor and Rookie founder Tavi Gevinson, and artist Esme Blegvad.

For our ask an expert section, we're talking to previous Polyester cover girl Tavi Gevinson about all things concerning the state of the internet. After closing Rookie, the platform for teenage girls, last year — Tavi discusses how the URL world has changed; from personal brands, to finding yourself in online communities, what makes her hopeful, and much more.

In this episodes obsession section, we're joined by artist Esme Blegvad; who will be revealing her life long obsession with the film Titanic. Talking us through owning the soundtrack before seeing the film, the film itself igniting her pre-teen burgeoning love of Leonardo DiCaprio, forcing everyone she knows to watch it and knowing the script off by heart in multiple languages.

The Polyester Podcast is brought to you by Polyester's founding editor in chief Ione Gamble (@ionegamble), and co-hosted and produced by Olivia Graham. Thank you to our assistant Jemima Skala. This weeks artwork has been created by episode guest Esme Blegvad. The Polyester podcast is supported by Depop, with new episodes released every other week.
