My work has stemmed from a deep love for treasure hunting, estate sales, lost memories, and old things. In a sense with my work, I hope to cherish the past and preserve memories whether they are my own or from a strangers. Photos have a great tangible quality about them, but what happens when the person in the photo dies, or when the person who obtains the photo isn’t associated with the subject – where does the value of the photo go if there are no loved ones to hold onto the photo?
Photos capture a moment in time that can never be brought back. They have a certain beauty about them that is both mysterious and genuine. By reworking found photos, I hope to bring out the emotions captured in the original.
