To celebrate being a bimbo Slick has blessed the internet with their Year of the Bimbo project. A monthly deep dive into famous bimbos in history/pop culture. The whole project feels like a fuck you to minimalism and blandness as they celebrate and champion women that have been historically viewed as vapid and dumb but still have a huge impact on popular culture to this day.
This guide will take you into the depths of being a shallow bitch. Read on for Slick’s hot goss on what it takes and means to be a bimbo.
Rise Above The Misogyny
It’s tough presenting as hyper feminine in a world that believes femininity is inferior to masculinity. Slick notes that “We see this kind of misogyny play out in many ways - like how Jayne Mansfield had an IQ of 149 and was seen as a dumb blonde! Expressions of hyperfemininity are often belittled and deemed frivolous.”
They continue, “We can blame our reliance on rigid gender binaries for that. Think about the entire plot of Legally Blonde! In order to be taken seriously Elle is forced to think she needs to tone down her bubbly, bright style. Thankfully, she believes in herself and the power of pink.”
Femme centered pleasure and aesthetics have always been stomped on by the ugly, boring boot of misogyny: Being a bimbo is all about grabbing those Pleasers, layering on some lipgloss and rising above it. What’s more feminist than being your most authentic self?
Modern Bimbofication is More Than Physical - It’s a State of Mind
Slick advises that “It’s important to make a distinction between bimbofication and the ‘modern bimbo mindset’ that has become so popular. Bimbofication is a kink that is about striving to become the ultimate fuck doll.” They explain, “Extreme plastic surgery, hyperfeminine style and hypnotic reprogramming are all parts of the bimbofication process. I was initially introduced to bimbo culture through the kink lens and I’ve started my physical journey with implants and fillers.”
But you don’t have to fork out to become a modern bimbo. Slick declares, “Bimbofication can be more of a mental state than a transformation process. The mentality is about owning your sexuality, not taking everything so seriously, having freedom to dress slutty and to feel fabulous doing it! As someone who identifies with both parts of bimbo culture, I recognize that a bimbo has no distinct look. It’s more of a feeling.”
Being a Bimbo is For Everyone
Even though it’s been around since the 80’s, we’ve seen a re-emergence of the use of himbo in 2021, the male counterpart to a bimbo. Defined as “an attractive but vacuous man” initially, himbo is now used in an endearing way to describe conventionally attractive but innocently naive men with a positive outlook on the world.
Slick sees a place at the table for everyone, “I love himbos! Anyone can be kind, smooth-brained, and sexy regardless of gender expression. I love the himbos in my life. After all, who else is going to help build me furniture or caulk my bathtub? I could break a nail!”
Always Be Yourself
In this dull male-dominated world, when you outwardly present as glamorous, femme and a little bit “too much” you’re never going to be taken seriously. Being a bimbo is all about pushing that to one side, unashamedly being yourself and having pride in being That Bitch.
But bimbos don't necessarily have to keep strict bimbo only company or date within their circle to feel comfortable. Slick describes that“the ultimate factor is that bimbos only share their time with those who won’t dull their sparkle. Having respect for who we are, what we do, and how we express ourselves is an absolute must. It’s a waste of my time to be with someone who doesn’t celebrate you being unapologetically yourself, and you should refuse to settle for less!”
Be Socially Engaged
Historically bimbos have never been seen as bookworms - but that’s always been the point! But in modern society is there also an option to turn a blind eye to social issues? What even is the Bimbo ethical code? Who would they vote for? Do they even vote? What’s their political compass like?
Slick spills: “On one side there’s the modern interpretation of bimbo which includes leftist politics. On the other side there are bimbos who are solely in it for the fetish aspect who are annoyed that politics are getting brought into it. I feel like this conversation goes beyond the realm of bimboism: I think anyone who purposefully disengages from politics is wilfully ignorant. As a queer, non-binary, full-service sex worker, it would be a disservice to both myself and my communities to not be politically driven. And there is so much work that has to be done! My ethics are leftist and the focus of my work is predominately in labor rights and decriminalization for sex workers, LGBTQ+ issues, police abolition, and mutual aid.”
Remember: Being politically engaged and giving a shit about others is hot!
So what does Slick see in the future for themselves and their fellow bimbos with bimbofication icons like The Cock Destroyers getting booked by Netflix and plastic surgery becoming more and more accessible?
“I personally love seeing everyone getting pumped and surged up! I think it’s so fun and I love seeing the community grow. But ultimately, bimbofication should be for yourself and yourself alone.” They encourage, “I think after the unprecedented year we all just faced now is the time to indulge in some serious self-love. And the sooner we’re all vaccinated the sooner we can all be sexy together! Come join the bimbolution, babes!”
