On paper, (or on screen, as you’re reading this), the latest offering from Sibling sounds all wrong; muted pastel tones of yellow, lilac and pink manifested through stripes or leopard print, framed by banners of red and black, finished with patent court heels and a sheer, ribbed sport sock should have alarm bells ringing.
Perhaps out of the show context they will; however the collection is cohesive at a time which would have been anything but for the brand. A pom pom studded poncho conjures images of sugar almonds, and a clear, concertina-ered swing coat acts as the wrapping. Crocheted maxis scream out poolside chic, whilst dark plastic lace up capri pants and pencil skirts are ready for the dance floor.
Triangle tie bikinis form the basis for most outfits which, when worn with headbands and plastic chain handled bags, all seems very Malibu Barbie. It’s the marrying of the mismatch that makes Sibling what it is; so much so that we’re willing to overlook the floral cardigan and leopard jeans combo.
