Whilst moving cardboard boxes out of my childhood bedroom, ready to move out and begin my life as an adult, I gained an overwhelming feeling of nostalgia and sadness for my past. I decided to collect items from my childhood that reminded me of all the things I used to love when I was a kid. From Hubba Bubba to Polly Pocket, I wanted to reflect on what it was like growing up in the late 90’s – early 2000’s. With a mixture of still life and self-portraiture I wanted to create a pink, pop world full of awful boy bands and Barbie’s to immerse myself in and distract myself from the impending doom of adulthood.
